Sharpie Tie-Dye

Hi there! This is definitely something I need to make soon: Tie-dye shirts made with Sharpie markers and alcohol! I will try to do this tomorrow and tell you about it. I think this would be great for a birthday party or other fun event.

Covered Notebooks

You know them. Those 50 cent composition books that come in that ugly mottled print that are oh-so-useful for everything from journals to to-do lists to medical logs. Well, since we use them so much why not make them attractive? It's surprisingly easy to do. Here are the steps:

1. Find a composition book and some paper- either patterned scrapbook paper or plain paper (with plain paper you can decorate it yourself, like I did.)

2. Place the notebook on top of the paper and trace around the notebook, then cut on the line you traced and trim so that it fits the cover of your book.

3. Glue the paper onto the cover of the notebook and smooth out any bubbles. Mod Podge or other decoupage medium works well.

4. Now you can get creative: If you used plain paper, you can do what I did- use permanent marker or other medium to decorate it. Or you can glue ribbon, trims, sequins, buttons, etc. onto the cover.

5. Either leave your notebook as it is after decorating, or paint a layer of Mod Podge over it to give it a protective coat.

Photo Clippies

I am always trying to find new ways to display things, especially photos. One day I came across a ton of big binder clips while a friend was over. A crafty friend. And of course my friend and I decided to turn those big binder clips into something pretty as well as useful. Enter Photo Clippies! These are really simple to make. All you need to do is glue (I used Elmer's, but anything will probably do) a rectangle of paper or fabric to the clippy, and then you can let your creativity take hold and embellish as much or as little as you want. To put the photos in, first clip them as you would normally do, then flip up the metal things (I don't know what they're called) and stand on table, shelf, dresser, etc. Please try it and tell me what you think!

Little Birdies

Hello again! I think that these are so cute! These little birdies were originally meant to be used as the number pieces of an advent calendar, but I used the template to make note cards. I cut the bird body and wing shapes out of patterned cardstock, then glued them to a pre-folded card. I used a holly or snowflake pattern for holiday cards, and I think that pastel floral would look so cute for spring! Or brown leafy print for fall, or crazy stripes and polka dots for a kid's birthday party.

Cupcake paper flower

Here is the flower that I made. I added some crepe paper leaves, which I think makes it look slightly more flower-ish. Other kinds of paper would work just as well for the leaves.

I haven't made these yet, but I think they look so cute. Maybe you could hot glue them to a barrette? I might try this soon. Or, you could try it and let me know how it works!
